Angelo Dorny opens Holland Dahlia Event

On 6 September, we officially opened the Holland Dahlia Event, 2024 edition. Amid great interest, the opening was performed by Angelo Dorny. It was a fantastic opening that we will look back on for a long time to come.

Angelo, at heart, was already fascinated by gardening as a child. His grandfather taught him the first tricks of the trade, later Angelo went on to study agricultural agriculture, horticulture and garden design. Becoming a chef also appealed to him, but his greatest love remained the garden, that inexhaustible source of inspiration, fertility and peace.  He helped thousands of people make their gardening dreams come true with his website, social media, magazines, lectures and books on tomatoes, flowers, chickens and cooking with fresh vegetables.

Flourishing privilege
At the opening of the Holland Dahlia Event, Angelo Dorny was guest speaker. ‘I consider it a privilege to be able to inspire people. It’s all very exciting, the first time, but don’t be put off by all the jargon. I hate rules and finger-pointing. Yes, it is better to leave chemical junk on the shelves and I will always applaud sustainable choices, but the essence is that you learn to get to know nature. The rest will follow, I am convinced.’

And the link between nature and the Dahlia speaks from thousands: ‘If you see 100 bees going wild on the flowers of, say, Nepeta – I’m just saying now – you will see for yourself what a poison-free garden brings about. ‘I’m just doing something too’ is my motto.’

The beautiful Dahlia sculptures were on display all weekend on the grounds of Keukenhof Castle and were definitely worth a visit! Take a look and enjoy.

How much we enjoyed! Thanks again to all participants who did their bit.
