In 1976, a 17-year-old boy started a flower nursery growing gladioli, asters and dianthus. In 1978, dahlia was cultivated there for the first time. The cuttings had been bought elsewhere. In the second year cuttings were produced on site. Over the course of the years, the assortment and the production continued to expand. Currently, 140 varieties are cultivated, and practically all of them will be on display for this event, as will several dozen new seedlings. Our website has a photo review of most of the varieties (www.dahlia.nl). Part of the assortment is protected by plant breeders’ rights and is exclusively cultivated and sold by us.
Our aim is to produce a good-quality product. We achieve this by selecting and purchasing tissue cultures, leading to improvements in quality year after year.
